Meet Gloucester City Irish Society Pipes & Drums

Gloucester City Irish Society Pipes & Drums first embarked on their musical and cultural mission in the Winter of 2021. Our goal, primarily, is to foster Irish American pride through the teaching, learning, and playing of traditional Irish music.

Irish heritage and Gloucester City go together like bangers and mash. As of the most recent census, Gloucester City  boasts the ninth highest percentage of Irish Americans in the entire country. So, while others may think that our music sounds foreign, those who grew up in Gloucester are familiar with the moving sound of the Great Highland Bagpipe.

 

So, why did it take until the Lord's year 2021 for Gloucester City to have their own bagpipe band? Our founder, Nick Wright, during the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, asked himself the same question and he couldn't come up with a good answer.

 

So, the result is us. We are the Gloucester City Irish Society Pipes & Drums. We're a proud family, and we love doing what we do.
